The Clone Wars wins two Emmys

George Lucas and David Tennant were presented with two Daytime Emmy awards for The Clone Wars on June 16. These are the first major awards for the show, and the first Emmy for either of the two men.

The show was nominated for seven awards in total. Lucas accepted the award for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program, beating out The Legend of Korra, among other shows. Joining Lucas on stage were supervising director Dave Filoni, producer Cary Silver and line producer Athena Portillo.

Doctor Who actor David Tennant was given the award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for his voice work as Huyang.

It is significant that this is the first time The Clone Wars has competed with daytime programming. Its evening time slot would have placed it in the Primetime Emmys during previous seasons.
